Pan-Pacific Indigenous Experiences in Marine Conservation @IMCCMay 10-13, 2011 • Discuss current indigenous initiatives in marine conservation and MPA establishment and management; • Examine successes (failures) of relations between indigenous peoples and MPAs; • Identify research and knowledge gaps in understanding of how MPAs and indigenous peoples are related; • Develop research agenda to address gaps in above; • Explore collaborative research arrangements among partners etc; and • (Provide catalyst for MPA development in Canada)
