Overview • Windows Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) • Native to Windows XP SP2, Vista and 2003 Server • Allows connection to Windows XP Pro and Windows Server computers set up for Remote Desktop • Installable in Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Me, NT4, 2000, and Mac OS X • Accesses host computer like you’re sitting in front of the computer • Only one user access session per computer
Downloading RDC • Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 • No installation required • XP: Start > All Programs > Accessories (> Communications) • Other versions of Windows • http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tools/rdclientdl.mspx • Mac OS X • Requires OS 10.2.8 or later • http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=remotedesktopclient

Using RDC Standard Windows XP RDC IP address Username and Password Ignore the domain
Using RDC Windows Vista/Updated Windows XP RDC IP address Username and Password: Prompted at login.

Research library • Accessible from desktop or from D:\Common Files • Help upload stuff you think others can use! • All items automatically indexed by Google Desktop, if containing readable text
Maintenance • Treat them like your own computers • No installing/downloading anything suspicious • More installed stuff = reduced performance • Keep them updated – install all automatic updates • D:\ is the big drive on ‘Common’ – save everything here
