The biggest football game of the year is the Super Bowl.

  3. Proper nouns name a specific person, place, thing, or idea. And … ie My sister Mary ate all of the cookies. My sister Mary ate all of the cookies. Find the proper nouns: Chris Drury plays on a hockey team. Chris Drury plays on a hockey team. The biggest football game of the year is the Super Bowl. The biggest football game of the year is the Super Bowl.

  4. So what is a plural noun? A noun that names two or more persons, places, things, or ideas. girls children pigtails fingers glasses cookies

  5. If a singular noun ends with s, ss, x, ch, sh, or z add es to form the plural. Plural rules: inch -inches dress - dresses box - boxes

  6. If a singular noun ends with a consonant and y, change the y to iand add es. More plural rules: baby - babies lady - ladies story - stories

  7. If the noun ends with a vowel and y, just add s. More plural rules: toy - toys boy - boys kid - kids

  8. Some nouns change form completely. Still more plural rules: child -children tooth -teeth foot - feet

  9. Some nouns have the same form for both singular and plural. Confused Yet? fish - fish deer - deer

  10. Some singular nouns ending in f or fe change the f to v and add sor es to form the plural. A final plural rule: leaf - leaves thief - thieves

  11. Let’s form some plurals: box - boxes tray - trays family - families bakery - bakeries bush - bushes knife - knives shelf - shelves church - churches
