High Tech Careers Jobs require postsecondary training Experienced techs earn $49,000 + Jobs cannot be done from overseas Unlimited career growth opportunities Industry-standard resources available These are high tech jobs that require postsecondary training. 4. Economic Issue for U.S. 91% of PHCC company owners say finding qualified technicians is a most important business issue Economist Alan Blinder (Wall Street Journal March 28, 2007) “Urgent need to retool America’s education system…to train people for jobs likely to remain in the U.S.” Our own surveys tell us that 91% to PHCC business owners feel that finding qualified technicians is a most important business issue. This is also an economic issue for the United States. In just the last few months the nuclear power industry, the electrical utilities industry and the steel industry have all announced major programs to recruit and train the next generation of skilled workers that they need. In short, we are competing with many other industries for a shrinking pool of qualified students.
