The Madrid Protocol of 1991 designates Antarctica as a “nature reserve devoted to peace and science,” highlighting the importance of protecting its unique flora and fauna. Antarctica's characteristics include limited flora with lichens, moss, and abundant seaweed due to its very salty sea. The diverse fauna in Antarctica consists of phytoplankton, krill, petrels, whales, crabeater seals, penguins, squids, skuas, leopard seals, emperor penguins, fish, Weddell seals, Ross seals, killer whales, and more. Penguins like Adelie, Gentoo, and Chinstrap, along with species such as Weddell seals, leopard seals, and blue-eyed shags, thrive in this environment. Our group aims to support the conservation efforts in Antarctica through trash processing and the protection of its unique flora and fauna.
