  2. One of the changes that happens when females go through puberty is called “ovulation.” Ovulation starts at puberty and continues as long as a woman is fertile—which means as long as she is able to become pregnant.

  3. Turn to “Understanding Female Reproductive Health” on page 7.We will read this section aloud. As we do, refer to the next slide for a visual aid.

  5. How many of you know twins or triplets?Are they identical or fraternal?

  6. Look at the Menstruation section of the reading sheet. As we read through this look at the following slide for a visual aid.

  8. Why is it hard for a woman to predict when she can get pregnant?

  9. Because menstrual cycles aren’t always the same number of days, it’s difficult to predict when an egg is in the fallopian tube.

  10. We will read through the “Staying Healthy” section aloud.

  11. What are some things girls should do to stay healthy?

  12. Girls should • Eat healthy and exercise • Shower or bathe daily • Change tampons every 3-4 hours • See a doctor for health checkups • Do breast self-exams

  13. You can find help by going to the school nurse, to your doctor, or to a community health clinic. You can also ask your parents or a trusted adult.
