  2. Fear holds us back from accomplishing great things • Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice.

  5. Role Play Scenarios • Group 1: Jake, Sam, Mikela and Trista are heading to a school dance. On the way there Trista offers each of them a beer. How can Jake, Mikela & Trista use Assertiveness to get out of this un healthy situation? • Group 2: Erik had an argument during recess with Steven over touch football. Some of Erik’s friends are pressuring him to go pick a fight with Steven after school. How can Erik be Assertive in communicating with his friends that he does not want to fight Steven • Group 3: The seventh grade is in the auditorium and are extremely loud. Joseph, the class President, needs to get everyone’s attention. He’s tried screaming and whistling, but no one can hear him. What can Joseph do to get everyone’s attention and quiet everyone down? • Group 4: It is the fifth set of a close volleyball game between Valhalla & Westlake. If Westlake wins this point the win the match. Cindy, playing in the front left corner knows the server likes to serve to back right corner. How can she communicate with Kate, who is in the back right corner, without tipping off the Westlake players? • Group 5: Dylan is being bullied at school. He has tried to avoid them, ignore them and even told on his bullly’s. Yet, Nothing has changed. Dylan knows that he must stand up for himself, but does not want to resort to violence. What can Dylan do to improve this current situation?
