Facts • The “revolving stairs” was invented in 1859 by Nathan Ames but a prototype was never built. • In 1892 in Coney Island, New York, the first ever working escalator was installed by Jesse Reno. This prototype would also be used to construct the escalator on the Brooklyn Bridge, that same year.
