Type of killer • He was a PROCESS FOCUSED KILLER. • He would tie them up and rape them for a while. • He would also keep the bodies in the attic or under his bed before he buried them. • He was a LUST KILLER. • He kept young teenage boys on the job for his work. • He would lure them in and trick them into putting on handcuffs. • He would sexually assault them.

Childhood/behavioral effects • Gacy’s father was physically abusive to his mother. • His father was verbally abusive to him and his siblings. • His father never paid much attention to him yet Gacy still loved him a lot. • He took part in many boy scout activities. • He had a blood clot in his brain which was discovered at age 16. • Gacy dropped out of high school and left home in senior year. • Gacy was liked by mostly everyone he knew.

Crimes and victimology • Gacy was a very organized killer. • He kept the murders hidden for a very long time. • He didn’t leave the bodies lying around; he kept them under the floorboards of his house. • The souvenirs he kept were rings and drivers licenses. He kept them all in a jewelry box. • His signature was to stuff the victims mouth with a sock or underwear while he handcuffed their hands. He would then rape the victim.

Psychological phases of the serial killer • AURA- he would day dream about raping young teenage boys. • TROLLING- he would hire them to work for him. • WOOING- he would get them to work for him for a while and gain their trust. • CAPTURE- he would lure his victims into being handcuffed. • MURDER- he would kill them by pulling a rope or board against their throats, as he raped them. • TOTEM- he would collect rings and drivers licenses . • DEPRESSION- he didn’t feel satisfied with the murder so he went back to the aura phase.
