Early Life • He was raised Catholic • His Father Abused him, and was a alcoholic • Dropped out of high school • Went to business school and became a fairly successful shoe salesman
Early life cont… • Got married in 1967 • He had his first homosexual encounter while his wife was in labor. • He denied he was gay, saying that in fact he was a lesbian • His wife disowned him and they got divorced.
Murders • He became a KFC restaurant owner in Iowa. • He was brought up on child molestation charges and was sent to prison. • He got parole in 1970 after 10 years in jail • Gacy moved back to Illinois and became a prominent member of the democrat party, and even got to take pictures of the first lady
Murders cont.. • Once his wife's divorce was final, the killings began • He killed 33 boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 • He would lure kids into his cars by offering them marijuana • Gacy would stick clothing in his mouth to stop the screams • He then would choke them with a rope or a hold them down with a board as he raped them
Trial • Gacy turned himself in, in march 1976 • He confessed to killing 33 boys, and gave the location of 31 boys • Most of the boys were found under his house were he would keep the bodies as long as decomposition would allow. • Gacy was executed by lethal injection
Dr. Helen Morrison • She kept Gacy’s brain in a attempt to discover why Gacy would commit these acts • She claims that Gacy did not fit the profile of a serial killer, and that he had the mind of an “infant”
