  1. Unit 2 test next class! Think First When you enter the classroom turn in your formal lab write-up in the appropriate basket in the back of the room. Then do the problems below. Light as energy • While you complete these problems in your composition book, I will go around the room and score your work: pg 104, problems 15-22 and the 5 activities. You may work with a neighbor. Refer to pp. 117-124 in your text book. • What is the energy of a wave at 1 x 1010Hz? • A wave has an energy of 5 Joules. What is the frequency? • What is the energy of a radio station that produces waves of 88.5 MHz? • What is the energy of a red light at 400 nm? • A wave has the energy of 3 x 10-25 J. What is the wavelength? 2. Finish by ________ 3. When you finish, expect to be called upon to show your work on the SMARTBoard for the class and be ready to explain how you solved the problem.

  2. Let’s review for the unit 2 test. Finish by _______ Fill out this chart in your composition book

  3. Complete this chart in your composition book Finish by _________

  4. Atomic theory review • Let’s review section assessment 4.4, problems 23-27. and review problems 28, 34, 38, 39, 42-68, 72, 77-80 on pp. 112 and 113. Get into groups of three or four. Go over all of the review problems checking your work with your group members. As a group select two problems you would like to review as a class. • When you are finished write the number of the problems you want to review on the white board. • Finish by _________ • If you finish early, study your atomic theory timeline.

  5. (Copy this in your composition book) How to solve a problem: Ex. What is the wavelength of light that has a frequency of 5.77 x 1014 Hz? • What is the problem asking you to solve? Ex. wavelength • Write down what the problem gives to you (numerical values) and what they represent (units). Ex. 5.77 x 1014 Hz which is the frequency • Write the formula(s) needed to solve the problem. Ex. c=λν • Input the numerical values in the formula. Ex. 3.00 x 108 ms-1 = λ. 5.77 x 1014 s-1 • Do the math and put a box around your answer. Include units. 3.00 x 108 ms-1/5.77 x 1014 s-1 = λ .520 x 10-6 m = λ 5.20 x 10-7 m = λ
