1. Corrupt Modi RAFALE SCAM A deal was signed by the Modi govt to purchase 36 Rafale jets at a rate much higher than what was negotiated by the UPA government. Modi government has refused to make public the price of the aircraft, saying a secrecy clause exists between India and France.French manufacturer Dassault has already released the total price of 36 aircraft, which is about ₹60,000 crore. It aimed at providing impunity to corrupt officials, even when there was clear evidence. The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill, 2017 was introduced to this effect. Raje govt faced severe criticism for this pro-corruption attitude and was later forced to withdraw the Bill. ASSAM CIVIL SERVICE EXAM SCAM 19 Government officers including Pallavi Sharma, the daughter of BJP MP RP Sharma, were arrested by the Assam police in a cash-for-jobs scam. Their handwriting did not match with that in their answer sheets in the Assam PSC examination. ADANI LAND SCAM (GUJARAT) 14,305 acres of land was allotted to the Adani Group by the Gujarat government at throwaway prices for the Mundra Port and SEZ development. 3. ADCB SCAM Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank (ADCB) received the highest amount of old demonetised notes, i.e., a whopping Rs 745.58 cr in just 5 days. ADCB is the only district co-operative bank to receive such a large amount. BJP President Amit Shah is one of the Directors in the bank. BUNDELKHAND PACKAGE SCAM (MADHYA PRADESH) In 2008, the UPA government announced a Rs 7400 crore special package to Bundelkhand, which was then reeling under severe drought. Out of this, Rs 3860 crore was allotted for six districts in Madhya Pradesh, which was to be used for infrastructure development. BUDGET SCAM (CHHATTISGARH) Chhattisgarh government failed to spend around Rs 20,000 cr out of the total budgetary provisions of Rs 80,200 cr during 2016-17. The CAG observed how the government hiked the budget without following any budgetary prudence, amounting to a misuse of public money. BAJRI SCAM (RAJASTHAN) Despite the ban imposed on bajri mining by the Supreme Court, it is easily available in the market, thanks to the corruption-friendly Raje govt. Price of bajri has gone up five times, and an illegal market has taken shape. The BJP govt has been deliberately avoiding the possibility of a policy for bajri mining, thus helping corruption thrive. BHAMASHAH HEALTH INSURANCE SCAM (RAJASTHAN) An unusual but significant increase was seen in the number of health insurance claims under the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana. Reports from the grounds later showed how most of the claims made were fraudulent. Insurance was claimed for unnecessary services, and at times for services which were never provided.
