Gauge Mediation Grids for 7 TeV Analysis squark/bino grid gluino/bino grid Nominal approach: More of same for 8 TeV; expect limits of (?) Mgluino ~ 1400 GeV Msquark ~ 1200 GeV GM ~ 250 TeV But perhaps one or two things to think about… “SPS8” Trajectory
Impact of X(126) discovery on Gauge Mediation • Discussion with David Shih, Weds 22 Aug 2012 • Rumors that Gauge Mediation would be scuttled by a Higgs at 126 GeV are exagerated • Higgs mass can be accommodated by modified “A terms”; this can make c appreciable, although c mgluino-5 • These can be radiatively generated (see http://www.umich.edu/~mctp/SciPrgPgs/events/2012/higgs/talks/Shih.pdf • Flavor universality in SUSY still an issue; still addressed by GM • Sensitivity to Mbino ~ Msquark/gluino a plus for ATLAS analysis (no jets required) but no physical motivation for focusing there.
mbino ~ mgluino Limit: Pushing GGM • From Helenka Przysiezniak-Frey (channeling Dan Damiani) • As mbino m_gluino, • decay lengths get long • gluion gluno + gravitino channel opens up (rather than bino + gravitino) • Control with gravitino mass, decoupling mass (everything but gluiono, bino) • here are some numbers for mdecouple = 2.5 TeV for • mgluino = 800 GeV mbino = 790 GeV • Mgravitino(GeV) Gam(gluino)(dec len) Gam(Neutralino1) BF(gluino->gravitino+gl) 1.31877E-09 2.16920E-07 (GOOD) 1.99664E-07 9.99996E-01 (BAD) 1.31877E-07 2.24728E-11 (GOOD) 1.99664E-11 9.65250E-01 (BAD) 2.64510E-07 6.17294E-12 (GOOD) 4.96312E-12 8.73493E-01 (BAD) 4.43170E-07 2.70177E-12 (70 m) 1.76806E-12 7.10961E-01 (BAD) 8.85390E-07 1.26216E-12 (150 m) 4.42966E-13 3.81286E-01 (OK) 1.31877E-06 9.97837E-13 (190 m) 1.99664E-13 2.17389E-01 (BETTER) 6.59003E-06 7.89605E-13 (240 m) 7.99585E-15 1.10014E-02 (BEST) • My thinking: Stay with prompt analysis. Ignore theoretical tension and do whatever necessary to have prompt lifetime and tractable (small) direct gluonic decay rate. • 14 TeV data: 3D grids with c as third parameter?
The “Electroweak” Grid • Discussion with David Shih, 4 May 2012 • Exploration of SPS8 trajectory should be • continued, but should also be generalized. • SPS8 cross section dominated by • weak production 101 and 1+1- • Scale of EW-production limits for • photonic decays in unclear! • Address with Wino/Bino grid: • MB / MW where B = bino ( 10 ); W = degenerate wino ( 1, 20) • Optimization will probably involve two SRs (low/high Bino mass) • Will start by assessing EW-only sensitivity with =250 TeV SPS8 point.
Current Grid Requests • In order to optimize, have requested of order 15 points with highest priority: • Full set of bino masses for mgluino = 1300 GeV • Full set of bino masses for msquark = 1100 GeV • SPS8 with = 250 TeV • Will use this to optimize the gluino and squark grids, and to get first feel of EW sensitivity in preparation for definition of an “electroweak” wino/bino grid. • Will probably request high-priority generation of ~5 points with fixed wino mass, range of bino masses for optimization. • Will request full gluino, squark, wino grids sometime in future (deadlines?)
