Food Security ClusterInformation Management WHAT IS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND WHY DO WE NEED IT? IM is a mechanism to increase the accessibility of data to achieve coordinated, timelyand appropriate responses to humanitarian crisis Data processing, analysis and dissemination by IM Team in Dhaka District-level information channeled through DFPs Formalised Information Flow • Strengthened decision-making at national and district level • Allows Local Government to concentrate on the task at hand • The aim is to make sure everyone knows what everyone else is doing • Support to Local Government by providing one single focal point
Food Security ClusterDFPs in IM Role of DFPs in Information Management Coordinate with local government counterparts Encourage a two-way information sharing process through a single focal point Advocate for regular district member updates of IM tools provided by Dhaka. Disseminate documents, minutes and tools from Dhaka level to district members The DFP mechanism aims to reinforce the coordination structure by strengthening sharing of information from district level to Dhaka and vice versa both during preparedness and response phases.

Food Security ClusterRole of the IM Team Role of The IM Team (in Dhaka) Process, analyse and disseminate information from District level Provide support to DFPs and members Develop and/or refine standardized IM tools The IMWG meet fortnightly with membership across the 8 clusters Discuss issues raised by members Develop and standardize IM tools Information Management Working Group (IMWG) functions under the HCTT and is embedded within the Disaster Management Information Center (DMIC)

Food Security Cluster4Ws Matrix Currently the 4W receives contributions from: 27 organizations across 53 Districts Maintains information on capacity across all clusters Assists in coordinating intervention strategies during emergency events Updated quarterly by inputs from cluster members Two 4W Atlases produced and disseminated till date (March & June 2014)
