Petabyte Challenge ? An idea • Demonstrate live the transfer of >1 Petabyte of data from the experiments via the Tier0 to the Tier1s. Is this possible??? • Requires sustained transfer rate out of CERN of 3 GB/s during 4 days • Show live network activity, instantaneous rates and accumulated data per site plus overall counter visible from the aisle. • Connect to various sites via VC • Runs from Monday 12h00 till Friday 12h00 Wolfgang von Rüden, CERN
Console setup • 3 PCs running XP • Screens: 5 x 24” & 2 x 46” • Direct 10Gb/s optical link to CERN’s GPN, i.e. CERN IP address range • Standard Gb ports • 2 IP telephones (CERN numbers) • Tandberg video conference system • Sound system Wolfgang von Rüden, CERN
