Description of the Gift Created By Brother Shawn and Brother Ray OSMTH Canada has provided this gift to his Excellence, the Grand Master and Prince Regent of the OSMTH, Count Fernando Pinto de Sousa Fontes. Presented Sept 4th, 2010 at the Portugal General Meeting Here is what we ended up with: 14th century transitional finger gauntlets finished in brushed steel and brass. They are also decorated with a hand cut brass cross of the order on each wrist defence. The gauntlets are not "perfect" as each step was done by hand and not by machine, this means that they are as in keeping with period pieces as possible. We used brass to get the extra depth when dishing and it holds the shapes we required better. Also each rivet point features a counter coloured rivet so steel with brass rivets or brass with steel. Each rivet head was then polished for full effect, they really need to be seen in person. The box is British Columbian Red Cedar. The boards were rough cut on one side and I sanded down the edges so no slivers would be had and finished the box using old techniques. The joints were blunt cut and butted together in a counter format to give the joints strength. David please Finally Robyn lined the interior with red and gold silk she had to show off the gauntlets. Her contribution was inspired by our work S hawn so I think we hit this one well. In keeping Brother Shawn and Brother Ray.
