  3. Do Now: 1/21 • Complete Study guide from section 22-2 (639) & 23-1 (657) or refer to your notes. Questions 1-5 are in chapter 22 section 1. There are 3 short essay question on the back. Test is next week. • EQ: What careers are related to Childhood development? What toys and equipment are appropriate to have in a early childhood classroom? • EDU-HGD-2,10: Students will make informed career decisions that reflect personal, family, and career goals. Students will identify appropriate materials and equipment for a child care center.

Levels of Jobs • Entry level: kinds of jobs many people take when they first enter a career area. • Paraprofessional: has some education beyond high school that trains a person for a certain field. • Professional: Position requires at least a degree from a 2 or 4 year institution. Most people who have professional jobs have advanced degrees such as a Masters.

  8. Characteristics of Being an Entrepreneur • No boss • Make own rules • Set their own schedules • Make own descions

  9. When making decisions about choosing a career • Consider the following…. • Interests and values • Aptitudes: a natural talent or potential for learning a skill • abilities

  10. Gaining Work Experience • Internship: a job in which a person works for little or no pay while gaining work experience and receiving supervision. • Job shadowing: observing someone in their career • Service Learning: A project in which students volunteer in their community as a graduation requirement. • Work Based Learning: Programs that offer students the opportunity to combine in school and on the job learning.

  12. Lifelong Learners • People who are willing to learn new information and acquire skills throughout their working lives.

  13. Assignment 1/8 • Write a 3/4 page summary about how technology has changed in the work place.
