Five Steps • Plan • Package • Promote • Produce • Profit
Step 1: Plan Components Who? ------------------------------ What? ----------------------------- Where? --------------------------- When? ---------------------------- How? ------------------------------ Why? ------------------------------ Description Who is event intended for? What is the event/activities? Where will it take place? Date/time? Conflicts? Etiquette Funding or collaboration necessary? a: Why are you planning this event? b: Why would they want to attend?
Who is this event for / who do you think will attend? • Why would this target group attend? • Can you answer what's in it for me? • What styles of design might appeal to this group? • What media sources would this group consume to find your message? • Are you considered within this demographic? Do you need a liaison for outreach? • Should you collaborate with other groups or organizations? Step 2: Package Questions to consider:
Step 3: Promote 2. Timing & frequency • Initial promo • Reminders • Final Schedule email blasts, flyering, and more ahead of time during planning and packaging stages. 1. Medium & message • Is the medium the message? • "Personal brand" • One-glance recognition
Can you guess intended audience or event type for these flyers?
Step 4: Produce What to bring & what to take: • For attendees • For those absent Be concerned with: • Etiquette • Statistics
Step 5: Profit You are not finished when the event is over: • Build credibility • Create community connections • Expand resources • Cash in on statistics • For assessment • For potential grants
