Stony BrookUpdate SB Crew Feb 19, 2008
Reference Gain Curve • Recall… The gain is the same in Israel and Stony Brook. • The outlined brown circles are used as a reference gain for a “typical” stack.
Relative Gain of “Test Stacks” • The relative gain of all 18 “test stacks” made at SB in the last month. • compared to the “typical” reference stack (previous slide). • The gain is higher than we’ve seen in the past (w/o CsI). • No observed correlation to single GEM results. • (plot coming next week)
Post-CsI, Test Stack 13 • Stack (157,168,161)tested over weekend. • many trips (56!) over 60 hrs. • After opening the box for scintillation cube maintenance, mid GEM is shorted. • mid GEM was left cooking overnight… Raised voltage from 3750V to 3800V
Scintillation Cube Measurements • The prototype scintillation cube is hooked up in the gain test box. • We have not yet successfully seen a triggered signal (due to trigger noise). • We have observed untriggered light signals with • Low P/T • Source in optimal signal position but not trigger position • The signal is low ~100mV • Working on getting a triggered signal. • The next generation cube, will use an Al + MgF2 reflector and will hopefully give us more photons to work with.
Status • Pretest Station: Total of 19 stacks installed/tested. • 5 stacks installed in HBD west • 13/19 test stacks in the glovebox • 3 as yet untested. • 7 Au, 2 Cu left in vacuum storage • Next… Post-mortem on HBD east!!
