  3. Two Choices • Live in “Obedience of Faith” • Acknowledge who God is • Live under his grace and Lorship • Live in Sin – reject God • Live under some other Master Obedience of faith - OR - Sin (Rejecting God)

  6. 1. A Deliberate Choice Humans “suppress the truth” (v 18) God has made himself known through creation It’s not what we know, but that we suppress it. The existence of creation indicates a Creator Humans exchanged the truth for a lie (v 25)

God handed us over • God gave us over to our distorted desires: v. 24 “God gave them over to the desires of their hearts” v. 26 “God gave them over to shameful lusts” v. 28 “God gave them over to a depraved mind” • Two parallel phrases in the Greek: v. 17 “For the righteousness of God is being revealed ... ” v. 18 “For the wrath of God is being revealed ... ” • Happening simultaneously in the PRESENT !

Disordered worship leads to disorder in creation • The natural is replaced by the unnatural • Leads to disorder in human relationships: • Greed, envy, murder, strife, deceit, gossip, disobeying parents, no mercy • Breaking the first 4 commandments (Exodus 20) • Leads to breaking the other 6 commandments • Paul is talking about societies in general.

  9. Disordered worship leads to disorder in Creation Human beings will not live in “obedience of faith” . . . because of an act of rebellion. Reject the truth . . . . . . approve of others who do the same (v 31)
