EARLY LIFE: From a humble beginning the fifth child of a tenant farmer Eva Peron rose to become the President of Argentina’s wife and political advisor. Eva’s father was politically active and Deputy Justice of the Peace in Los Toldos Argentina. Eva’s security died with her father in 1926. Eva was seven years old.
Life after her fathers death was a struggle. The family moved to a new town.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: While her mom ran a lunchtime café in their home, her oldest sisters and brother worked. Eva’s mom was a great cook and important town people loved her food. Eva began to recite poetry on stage. Her star quality was beginning to shine. She decided to become an actress. This was a scandalous choice.
Eva worked hard and was a successful actress. Beginning at age 15 and acting until she was 26, when she married the President of Argentina Juan Peron.
It was a new idea for a President’s wife to be active in her concern for her countrymen. Eva worked for women and children’s welfare, education and safety.
QUALITIES ADMIRED: I admire Eva’s commitment to success. I admire her hard work. I admire her ability to work at tasks that were not popular, but were important to her. Eva Peron’s life demonstrates courage, and vision.
