Long term leaching of heavy metals and salts are the environmental impacts that have to be quanitified for LCA. • How much is leached? • What is the time horizon for the leaching?
Water movement within road constructions and landfills • L/S-ratio can be related to the time frame for leaching in landfills and road constructions. • Well established data on water movement in landfills were available while data for road constructions were missing. • Drainage data were gathered from test road sections in Minnesota and a model was developed to estimate the LS-ratio in different parts of the road construction. • A final version of the model is schedule for the end of 2004.
