  12. Special Economic Zone (SEZ) What is an SEZ ? SEZ is a specifically delineated duty free enclave and shall be deemed to be foreign territory for the purposes of trade operations and duties and tariffs

  13. Policies Salient features of policy • Units are able to import capital goods and raw materials Duty Free from abroad. And also from DTA* without payment of terminal Excise Duty, Central Sales Tax, VAT, Service Tax, Stamp Duty etc. • No routine examination by customs of export and import cargo • No separate documentation required for customs and exim policy • No Licence required for imports • Supplies from DTA to SEZ units treated as deemed exports • Reimbursement of Central Sales tax paid on domestic purchases * DTA= Domestic Tariff Area ( Industries Outside the SEZ )

Advantage ∙ Cost Price • In both cases of buying i.e. • From SEZ & • Self Imports, • . . . . . the EOU units BUY the goods DUTY FREE. • The advantage we offer is that we hold stocks of variety of products at our SEZ Unit. Many of these are into Bulk packs, Multiple packs etc.. This enables our customers to buy the exact quantities required by them and get the price advantage of Bulk lots. • In case of SELF IMPORT, the EOU buyers have to source the product at higher price due to increased shipping costs. In our case the goods are shipped to them from our SEZ unit whereby there is a significant reduction in shipping costs.

  17. Advantage ∙ Hidden Costs • In case of Self Imports, the EOU units are subjected to a number of Hidden costs. These play a significant role in adding to the cost of operations. • Major hidden expense in Self Import are BANK CHARGES. These involve costs for opening LCs or making Foreign Exchange reimbursements etc… • The advantage we offer is that in our transactions no such expenses are involved. Since we are located within India, our customers can pay us by the usual method that they adopt in local day-to-day transactions. • We also offer another big advantage in terms of Invoicing. Our Invoices are issued both in INR and equivalent USD at the Forex rate prevailing on the day of issue. Considering the fluctuations in Forex, at the time of making payment, the customer has the choice to pay in USD or INR, whichever is economical. • In short, we cover the customer against any Forex fluctuations.

Advantage ∙ Accountability • In case of Self Imports, majority of the overseas suppliers insist for advance payment. • There are problems at the time of shipment due to the lack of understanding in terms of Communication , Business culture and Documentation needs. • Once the advance payment is made it is normal for such suppliers to turn a blind eye to your needs. This complicates the matter at the Indian side. • The advantage we offer is that we are located in India. We are more accessible and have a competent team with highly effective system. We offer convenient Credit Terms & ensure quality products with our In-House analytical system.

Advantage ∙ Work Stress • In case of Self Imports, you need to constantly chase the overseas supplier for deliveries. • Constant Follow-up is required with the Overseas supplier, Shipping company, Local Custom clearance agent, bank etc… • Any goof-up in documentation aggravates the problems. • The advantage we offer is that we are located in India. We are your only contact point and are responsible for Supplies, Shipping and also clearance. • We do all the paperwork on behalf of EOU Units and they have to only get the Procurement Certificate and Re-Warehousing Certificate. • We also provide with ready made formats to get the Procurement Certificates faster.
