In response to these signs, Public transportation buses were sent out all over New Orleans to help the people evacuate.
Upon returning home after the evacuation, the city’s inhabitants were very sad.
FEMA was there for the people. Taking care of damage and helping people get back on their feet.
new shopping complexes were built post katrina. Stronger and better than before.

There was a lack of evacuation transportation for those who were dependent on public transportation.
The lower ninth ward is 98% black and the eastern most downriver portion of new orleans. It was flooded by 2 braches in the industrial canal flood protection system.
FEMA required that all homes must be still on the property for aid. Furthermore, the damage in the lower ninth ward was legally defined as flooding damage– the insurance only covered hurricane damage.
Because of these loopholes, much of the houses in the lower ninth ward still look like this as of November 2011.
The only food store in the lower ninth ward. It sells countless types of cigarettes, alcohol, junk food, but neither vegetables nor fruit are to be found.
St. Bernard Parish is the town next to the lower ninth ward. After Katrina, a shopping complex was built and an ordinance was passed – only blood relatives could move in. It is 90% white.
