  1. Ohio Ambassadors vs. Teen Advisory Council Last Updated by H.K. Epley 11/2015

Ambassadors-Requirements • High School Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors as of January 1 of the year of application • Are approved by 4-H professionals as good representatives of Ohio 4-H Youth Development • Applications due February 2, 2016 AND Friday following Ohio State Fair (8/12/16)—this is when they will be due in the future!! • 2 year term • No limit to the number selected • Interview, accept invitation, agree to terms and conditions, participate and complete orientation

  3. Ambassadors-Duties • Orientation at Ohio 4-H Conference • Participate in interview and mandatory leadership training session • Serve as emcees, committee members, and other roles at Ohio 4-H Conference, State Fair 4-H events, and other state 4-H programs

  4. Teen Advisory Council-Requirements • Ohio 4-H members at least 15 years old or sophomore are eligible to apply • Must be 4-H members for at least 24 consecutive months prior to applying • Applications due Friday following Ohio State Fair (8/12/16) • 2 year term; begins September • No more than 36 individuals on board; try to have representation of the state

Teen Advisory Council-Duties • Orientation & training in September & throughout year • Work together to improve Ohio 4-H programming, administration, and relevance to youth in today’s society through cooperation with State 4-H leaders, active support of new and innovative 4-H programming, and advocacy for 4-H and youth issues. • More of “youth voice” and representation of 4-H members throughout the state (Ohio foundation board members, National 4-H conference participants, etc.)

  6. Points to Note • CANNOT be Ambassador AND Teen Advisory Council member at the same time • Are not required to be an ambassador before TAC members or TAC members to be an ambassador • If want to do both: • 9th & 10th grade: Ambassador • 11th & 12th grade: TAC • (or add a year one way or another)
