The 1960's are a wonderful era for classic cars. Many cars in the 60's era had more modern conveniences that we take for granted today, such as power steering, power brakes and automatic transmissions than the cars of earlier eras. Technolodgy and Inventions in the 1960's
portable calculator • The portable calculator was invented in 1967 by William Burroughs • There was lots of other things invented in that decade like the satellite, internet, and even the laser. Invented in 1967
It was invented in 1964 by Douglas Engelbart • It was controlled by a wheel instead of arrow keys on the key board to scroll on the screen. The first computer mouse
Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar, that is still used today • It’s a light strong synthetic fibrous material • At the beginning it was used as a replacement for steel in racing tires • Now it’s used from bicycle tires to body armor KEVLAR

John F. Kennedy John F. Kennedy was elected president in 1961. He was working hard against all things bad including tyranny, poverty, and disease.

The soldiers The soldiers in the war made a very large impact on the situations everywhere. They helped fight for the people over in Vietnam even in the horrible conditions and very dangerous camping positions.
People of the 60’s (hippies) The people of the sixty’s (a.k.a. hippies) believed in peace and would sit around all day and hope for peace. They had many protests and did everything they could just to try and create world peace.

Wilma Rudolph, a black American woman, received three Olympic gold medals in fast running.when she was a child, she was very ill with pneumonia and scarlet fever. She barely lived, and doctors said she would never be able to walk again. But she never gave up hope, and was not only able to walk again, but able to outrun everyone else in Olympics to be awarded with 3 gold medals.
1968- Peggy Fleming, a 19-year-old figure skater, wins the U.S.'s only Olympics gold medal of the 1968 Winter.
1960's Volleyball • 1960 - Seven midwestern institutions formed the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association • 1960's - New techniques added to the game included - The soft spike (dink), forearm pass (bump), blocking across the net, and defensive diving and rolling • 1964 - Volleyball was introduced to the Olympic Games in Tokyo
Werner Roth was born in Yugoslavia. After immigrating to the United States at an early age, he became a rising star in American soccer through the 1960s, living in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School, playing on the varsity squad from 1962 to 1966, captaining the team in his senior year.
Jackie Robinson was an extremely talented multi-sport athlete and a courageous man who played an active role in civil rights. He was the first black man to break the “color line”. The baseball hall of fame inducted Robinson in 1962 and he was a member of six World Series teams.
