Full Cash Value Look At Your Value • Find the current Full Cash Value on the NOTICE OF VALUATION you received before March 1st • This is the Assessor’s opinion of what your property would sell for today • This value assumes a sale for “cash” (which is why it’s called the Full Cash Value) and it doesn’t include “personal property,” like furniture, carpet or drapes • Is the Assessor right? -- or is your value too high or unfair compared to your neighbors?
How You Can Tell Check our reports using your parcel number (Parcel ID) • First, see if we have your property listed correctly (square footage, year of construction, carport / garage -- and so on)make a note of any errors you find • Second, look for properties in your area which are comparable and have sold recentlycompare your value to the sales (the level of value) compare your value to the comparable properties (the fairness, or “equity” of value) • If our listing is correct, and if the value is accurate and fair, there In no need for you to take any action

PETITION FOR REVIEW • After you’ve examined our records, and believe our Full Cash Value is wrong or inequitable, you can then file a Petition for Review (Form 130) • Include as much supporting information as possible • If you wish, mark the box on the form requesting a meeting (we’ll mail you notice of when and where to meet with an appraiser) • PETITIONS MUST BE FILED WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR NOTICE • The Assessor must send you a written decision by August 15th • If you are dissatisfied with the Assessor’s decision, you may appeal to the State Board of Equalization
