  2. Objectives: • Learn the skills of seeking help and giving help for students and parents. • Recognizing who needs our assistance and identify whom they can approach. • Learn there are positive and fun activities to participate in our lives. Session Five:Objectives

Welcome - 10 Minutes • Meal – 30 Minutes • Facilitator Puppet Show – 15 Minutes • Parent and Youth Breakout Sessions – 25 Minutes • Group Gathering – 5 Minutes • Puppet Show – 20 Minutes • Help – Seeking - 10 Minutes • Video or Speaker Discussion – 10 Minutes • Reminder and Announcements – 5 Minutes • Closing – 5 Minutes Session Five:Layout • Overview of Session Five

  4. Supply Box • “Four Step Plan” Poster • Help-Seeking: Video or Prepared Speaker • Puppet Materials, Tablecloth, & Scripts • Camera (is suggested) • _____________________________________________________ • _____________________________________________________ Materials

Ask an Elder or spiritual leader to be present at the session to say a prayer, bless the meal, and maybe give a short talk about the importance of seeking help. • Tobacco and smudge pack • Create “Four Step Plan” Poster. This could be written on chalk board, white board, flipchart, or sheets of paper. • Finding out the person’s FEELINGS • Identifying the PROBLEM(S) • Exploring RESOURCES • Move to ACTION • Set up one table for the puppet show. Puppet Show • 7 Scenarios • Scenario #1 Sheila sees her friend worried and wants to help. • Scenario #2 Billy is being bullied at school and needs help. • Scenario #3 A brother and sister missed the bus and need a ride. • Scenario #4 Two friends are contemplating skipping school. • Scenario #5 Two girls are having fun and see an Elder who needs help. • Scenario #6 Two kids are playing, but one wants to leave without asking parents. • Scenario #7 Two kids are impatiently waiting for their turn for lunch. 20 Minutes
