EXODUS 5: 3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews has met with us: let us GO, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. When God has MET with a man, He will GO… Men who just met with God run their own lives, agenda, programmes, plans uninterrupted. When God meets with a man, his priorities in life will radically change.

  3. PAUL Met With God In Judaism • Zealous enough to kill men for God • Personal agenda to become greater than Gamaliel, his master, in the Sanhedrin • God was the ‘rubber stamp’ for the agenda

  4. PAUL God Met Him On Damascus Road He knocked him down from his high horse of pride and rebellion to His will. His question “What will You want me to do?” enabled a call into Mission. “ARISE AND GO!”

Acts 26: 16-18The Call But rise and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of what you saw, and in what I shall appear to you; delivering you from the people and the nations, to whom I now send you in order to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, so that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. • The call precedes everything else • It is clear and unambiguous • A call to open men’s eyes by the gospel

Gal. 1:15-18The Preparation But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and having called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the nations, immediately I did not confer with flesh and blood; Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those apostles before me, but I went into Arabia and returned again to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days. Training always precedes use E.g. Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David etc. Missionaries must be trained— Paul seemed to have been self-taught. Training available today

  10. AQUILA & PRISCILLA • Paul met them in Corinth and preached in their synagogue (18: 1-5) • They accompanied Paul to Syria (V. 18) • Left at Ephesus by Paul to continue the work he started. (V. 19- 21) • Appolos’ ministry in Ephesus (V. 25)

  11. AQUILA & PRISCILLA • Discipling of Appolosin their home (V. 26) • Commended him to the brethren (V. 27-28) • Returned to Rome and hosted a house church. (Romans 16:3-5)

  12. LESSONS from the Couple • Used the contact point of their trade • Co-laboured with and supported missionaries (Rom. 16:3) • They privately discipledAppolos • They provided their home (property) for the church to meet • They housed Ministers of the Gospel (Paul)

  13. LESSONS FOR US Evangelising from our homes • Invite friends, neighbours, fellow-workers home • Be hospitable to preachers, learn from them as they stay with you • Defend the gospel at every opportunity • Utilise the home as a place of study and worship

  14. LESSONS FOR US Evangelising from our homes • Utilise the market place for Evangelism and Discipling • God moves us His people, His "light" around to "spiritually dark" areas to illuminate them • Bloom where you are planted by the LORD.
