Not So for Unbelievers:Psalm 1:4-6 Wicked = “evil or morally wrong” Vs. 4 - No root – wind drives them away Vs. 5 - Wicked will not stand (remain) in the judgment Vs. 5 - Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous (like mixing oil and water) Vs. 6 – the way of the wicked will perish
The Victory Really Is in Jesus… Alone! We cannot “take on” Satan. * David before Goliath, "My God shall deliver you into my hands.“* The 3 Hebrew children before the fiery furnace, "Our God is able to deliver us.“* Moses @ the Red Sea, "Stand still and see the power of God." * In Jude 9, Michael, the archangel, would not confront Satan in his own power but said, "The Lord rebuke thee."
Venue for Triumph: Sin Nature John 3:3 – “you must be born again” James 4:7 – “Submit to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 – “God is faithful … (He) will provide the way of escape”
Venue for Triumph: Self “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). “(they) no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf” (2 Corinthians 5:14).
Venue for Triumph:Death and the Grave “the sentence of death” (2 Corinthians 1:9). “It is appointed for all men to die once, and after this comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Jesus: “I am the resurrection and the life” “Born once, die twice; born twice, die once.”
