Assign students to computers. Updates are every Thurs. at midnight. • Who will keep it up to date & in working condition. Technology Coordinator replaces CPUs every 5 years.
Description of Lesson Topic: Creating Radio Talk Show Using Audacity about pros and cons of technology. Technology Used: Computer, Audacity Program, Microphone, Headphones, Internet # of Students: 26 Activities Included: Writing a script in Word and using the Audacity Program to record, edit, import, change the format from AUP to MP3. Include Problem solving strategies: Groups must assign what rolls each student will play as they create a 5 min. podcast on the topic of the pros and cons of technology. Assessments: Used survey monkey for pre and post test.
Technology Used Describe technology used in lesson- desktop computers, microphones, and Audacity program List its capabilities-Records, edits, imports music, exports to MP3 List its limitations-You need headphones, microphone, some space to spread out, and no video capabilities. Describe its potential as a benefit to personal needs, workplace needs, or lifelong learning. This project is great for learning organizational skills, communication skills, creativity, and team work.
Supporting Diverse Learners Have student’s select roles that they would excel at. Example: Speaking, Non-Speaking, Editing, Music, and writing the script. Have student’s help their neighbors. Support video links in English and Spanish
Managing Technology • How will you manage the use of technology in your room? • Assign Seats, Vision Program, Block Screens, Hang headphones on wall. • Classroom Management Strategies • Lights dimmed, Bell Ringer, Go over new work, independent work (can listen to MP3s at this time)
Was your lesson effective? Did your students learn? Yes Did the use of technology increase motivation or participation? Yes, creation of school radio. What did students know before the lesson and after? Evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson. What could you do differently to increase the effectiveness of the lesson? Use a script template and reserve other lab to spread out students.
LEGAL & ETHICAL COMPUTER USE Student’s only use 10% or less of imported music. Student’s are blocked from inappropriate web-sites and restricted to download. We teach our kids to site any source that they use from the internet.
Cooperative Learning Does your lesson include any cooperative group processes? Students were in groups of 4 to create their radio show.
Technology as a Productivity Tool What technology do you use as a productivity tool? Infinite Campus, Survey Monkey How do you use this technology? Grading, Pre and Post Test.
