3. TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY
TRACHEA
It is a cartilaginous & membranous tube
11cm(5 inch) long & 2.5cm(1 inch) in diameter
Extend from lower border of cricoid cartilage(C6) to carina(T5) where it bifurcates into right & left main bronchus
Trachea moves upward during swallowing, & downward forward during inspiration
4. TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY
The trachea divides into right & left principal (primary) bronchus
Separated by a narrow ridge (carina)
The principal bronchi give rise to lobar (secondary) bronchi
Three lobar bronchi arise from right principal bronchus
Two lobar bronchi arise from left principal bronchus
5. TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY Lobar bronchus divides into segmental (tertiary) bronchi and then into bronchopulmonary segment
10 on right side & 8 on left side
Bronchiole is formed by further divisions of bronchi
Each Bronchiole supplies a lung lobule
Lung lobule is the basic unit of lung
