Classification: Phylum- platyhelminthes Habitat: a host’s intestines Symmetry: bilateral Cellular Organization: multicellular; has three layers of tissue. Reproduction: Hermaphrodite- eggs are fertilized by sperm in the same body segment. The segment breaks off and passes out of a host’s body with wastes. When the wastes are eaten by another animal the eggs hatch inside the new host. Method of Obtaining Food: parasite; absorbs food that is digested by the host from the host’s intestine. Special Notes/Adaptations: Grows by producing new body segments immediately behind its head. Its ribbon-like body can grow to 12 m long.
