What Does That Mean? • Women’s Suffrage is the right for women to vote. • Inequality means the opposite of being equal. When it comes to women’s suffrage, inequality refers to women not having the equal right that men had to vote. • 19th Amendment gives all women of the United States the right to vote.
What Did Susan B. Anthony Do? • 1869: She, and Elizabeth Stanton, formed the National Woman Suffrage Association with hopes of getting the 19th amendment added to the constitution. • 1872: She felt so strongly about her right to vote that she voted in the presidential election illegally.
Susan B. Anthony’s Life Accomplishments • Although Susan B. Anthony died in 1906 before the 19th amendment was added to the constitution, her goal was accomplished and women were given the equal right to vote. • Susan B. Anthony paved the way for the passage of the 19thamendment in 1920.
