  2. Culture is the learned behavior of members of a given social group. It provides useful guidelines for behavior. For example: In Arab countries when greeting; men do not think “should I kiss her?” . No!!!. Culture provides information that helps us make meaningful distinctions about wright and wrong, good and bad, attractive and unattractive,……

  3. The dominant culture or (mainstream) is that one seems to hold by the majority of people. • Culture can divide us but also can unite us!!!! • All the citizens of one country (usually) of all colors, genders, intelligence and religion can communicate and respect each other.

  4. Culture effect's can be negative as positive. Taking care of plants Throwing food in garbage

  5. Reading every where (in a bus-stop) Spitting is not allowed

  7. Communication & Culture • Creation and maintenance of a more or less common culture occurs through communication, including mass communication, communicating with friends, parents, religious leaders, teachers, politicians…. .

  8. The role of mass communication in transferring and uniting the culture: Mass communication can be a cultural storytellers. • This means it can emphasize values and beliefs reside in the stories it tells. • Then we use these stories not only to be entertained but to learn about the world around us, to understand the values, the way things work.

  9. Mass communication as cultural forum. Mass media can debate about our culture. The most powerful voices in the forum have the most power to shape our definitions and understandings.

  10. Culture Shock • The definition of culture shock is the trauma you experience when you move into a culture different from your home culture. • A communication problem occurs as a result of the lack of understanding; the verbal and nonverbal communication of the new culture, it's customs and it's value systems are only a few of the problems.
