  5. Community Involvement This is the __year that Smithfield has ‘adopted’ children in need. Usually about 130 children in need This past year expanded to help with school supplies

  8. Tar Heel Hosted…. • Hired an instructor to teach for state mandated training • Allowed outsider agencies to join in the training

  9. Then they hosted ….. • The Industrial Committee of the NC AWWA-WEA • Toured the newest addition to Smithfield- Tar Heel • Landed us a feature in the NC Currents magazine

  14. Grasses 4 the Masses • Chesapeake Bay Foundation program to re-habilitate the Bay • Grasses grew by volunteers for 10-12 weeks • Transplanted to Bay area for aquatic habitat • Clean the Bay Day is also sponsored through this organization

  15. More Grasses Elizabeth River near Portsmouth got Sparta Grass in an area that needs rehabilitation.
