Khnum • God of water Innudation • Related to ancient god Min • He was the power behind the Nile River; and the molder of people and other molder of people and other deities. • His symbol was a ram’s head. The ram was considered to be a very potent animal, and so Khnum was associated with fertility.

  4. Khnum • Khnum was also a protective deity of the dead. Spells invoking the assistance of Khnum can be found in the Book of the Dead and on many of the heart scarabs interred with the dead. • Elephantine Island’s Temple of Khnum • Created the body and the “ka” (spirit) of each newborn child

  6. Sobek • He is the god of crocodiles. • He was the sun of Neith his, cult center was Crocodilapolis (Arisinoe) in the Fayum. • His power was to protect people from crocodiles. He was a creator god and linked with the sun god. • In Egypt Kom Ombo and the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris located at the bend of the Nile in the ancient city of Pasbek.

  7. Sobek • He was a god of a Nile and brought fertility to the land. • In times of need, he gives the pharaoh strength and fortitude so that he may overcome all obstacles. • Worshipped throughout Egypt, his cult center was in the Faiyoum.

Hapi • He was the god called Running One and was the God of the Nile. • Since Egypt was divided into two his wife was Nekhebet in the south and Buto in the north, he was also one of four sons of Horus. • His powers were fertility and his ability to nourish the land through the Nile’s annual floods. • When an artist portrayed him he was represented holding the lotus plant for the south and papyrus for the north.

  10. Hapi • Temple of the Cosmos and Temple of Asar-Hapi near the famous double city of Pe-tep. • He was often pictured carrying offerings of food pouring water from an amphora, but was depicted rarely as a hippopotamus. Also depicted as baboon-headed mummified human.
