Ben Franklin and His Adages • Find two proverbs and explain how these two proverbs tell about the faults/failings of Americans or the reminders the American people needed at the time? • What did he teach us about being a good citizen? • Where do you find ideas/values from Franklin's Puritan background? Give a specific adage example. • Where do you see Franklin moving towards the enlightenment's age of reason? Give a specific adage example. • What adages are still in use from “Poor Richard’s Almanac”? What made these proverbs so popular and long-lasting? • Create your own adage for the modern day. Think about what ideals would you want other people to live towards and how you would want Americans today to improve themselves. Make it catchy!
