Giving directions: • Give directions fluently • Select simplest route • Give in a series of logical steps • Use visual terms • Consider drawing map • Repeat if necessary
Receiving directions: • Ask clearly • Listen carefully • Repeat the directions back • Thank the person
Business call- call made to a company or organization to request information or help, to make a complaint, or to take care of some other business matter
According to tradition, you should first state the name of the person is: • Higher in achievement or status • Who is older • If 1&2 don’t apply, the person most familiar to you
Conversation-the informal exchange of thoughts and feelings by two people
Open questions – must be answered with an explanation Closed questions – can be answered with a yes or no Follow-up questions – relates to the subject matter of an earlier question
Paraphrasing- stating in your own words what someone else has said
Disagreement – a difference of opinion among two or more people
Problem-solving method: • Identify the problem • Determine the nature and causes • Talk about possible ways to solve the problem • Select the best way
Discussion- talking through a problem by following the problem-solving method
Constructive feedback –evaluating a problem to negotiate a solution
