What is Tk20? • Comprehensive data assessment system • Allows students to be active online participants in multiple areas of their college experience including: • Course instruction • Field experience • Academic advising
Cost to Students • Same as similar systems ($103 online/$133 bookstore for seven year subscription) • Best of it’s kind, used at Ohio State, Auburn University, Arizona State and many other institutions • Northwest has covered costs of servers, software and staff time • The expense averages less than $20 annually
Buying and Accessing Tk20 • Online or at the bookstore ($103 vs. $133 for 7 years) • Login to MyNW (if unable, contact 660-562-1089) • Click on Tk20 logo on the right • Next page, click on Tk20 logo on the left • Click on link titled “register or purchase new account” • Input CC and 919 info if buying online, or code if you purchased at the bookstore
How to create and save artifacts • Click “Artifacts” tab at the top of the account • Click “create” under “Artifacts” on the left • Choose a template from the pulldown (“file” if unsure) • Enter information into template (or enter title and click on “documents” tab to upload any file) • Save
How to create and save artifacts • Artifacts: best way to request feedback from faculty • Click on the name of the artifact • Click “request feedback”, small gray button on far right • Enter title, who to send request to, choose other options, click “submit” • Faculty can review and send this back with changes
Uploading Assignments • Click on “pending task” or “courses” tab, choose course, and click “activities” • Click on name of assignment • Click on large blue circle on right of page, “artifact wizard” • Either “create new artifact” or “attach previously” for artifact already saved
Uploading Assignments • For previously created: • Choose and click continue • Select artifact from list and click “submit” • For new artifact: • Choose and click continue • Choose artifact type. “File” will work for misc. • Upload using browse function • Give title • Click submit
Recalling assignments • If incorrect assignment uploaded • Click “courses” • Click “activities” • Place checkmark next to name of assignment • Click “recall” button • *Only works if assignment has not been assessed, or if an extension is unneeded • If problem arises, contact instructor and Mike McBride
Checking scores on assignments • Click “Courses” • Click “Activities” • Click name of assignment • Choose “assessments” • Click on link to completed rubric • *Only possible if assignment has status of “Assessment Complete”
Portfolios • Place on tk20 where assignments can be grouped together for scoring • To use, click on “Portfolios” tab • Click on name of portfolio (if you have been assigned one) • Use artifact wizard icon again as a guide to upload items into each tab • Click “submit”
Presentation Portfolios • Place for students to highlight their best work for prospective employers
Field Experience Binders • Similar to portfolios, except these will collect data from a variety of users (students, cooperating teachers, university supervisors) • Used exclusively next semester for student teachers
Field Experience Binders • Click on “field experience” tab • (if you have been sent a binder), click on it by name • Click on tabs, upload and submit
FAQ • To login after you graduate, you will be provided with new passwords in Fall 2012 • You may have an old major listed on your site: If so, please contact Mike McBride • You may upload artifacts individually or with your class. Instructor preference.

What’s Next? • Education students need to purchase subscription before they take secondpracticum or attend a training • Trainings will be scheduled for November for faculty and students: http://www.nwmissouri.edu/dept/peu/tess/tk20/training.htm • Full implementation fall 2012 • All undergraduate and graduate programs under PEU • Student teachers and TWS
