We recognize the need… • To redesign a disposable camera to increase Kodak’s revenue. With the increase in popularity of digital cameras, there has been a decrease in the demand for disposable cameras. Kodak is in need of implementing new ideas to improve the market.
The following survey was used to narrow down a market that would be most interested in purchasing disposable cameras.
Attributes (Derived by Surveys) • Cheap • Visually appealing • Environmentally friendly • Durable • Reliable/Useful • Clear Picture • Waterproof • Simple Buttons • Safe for Children • Different Colors represents our ranking of Attributes • High Importance • Medium importance • Low importance
Specifications • Durable • Needs to withstand a fall from 5 feet • Not easily taken apart or opened • Safe • No sharp edges • No toxic chemicals • No exposed parts • Useful • Functions properly every time • Long lasting battery (AA battery) • Clear Picture:Standard ISO 800 speed • 27 exposures (pictures)
Specifications (continued) • Waterproof • Contains airtight rubber sealed bonds • Needs to be able to function properly after being fully submerged in water • Environmentally friendly • Recyclable battery • Main shell and parts are reusable • Cost • 10 cameras for $35 • Size • Larger buttons • Size: 4.5 in. long x 1 in. wide x 2.25 in. tall • Appealing • Round edges • Multi gender color
Conclusion • To help market the disposable camera to children, we created a design that includes features such as larger buttons, an easier on/off flash switch, a larger eye lens, picture directions, a waterproof shell, and a wrist loop. • With these added features (which will not dramatically increase the cost of production) the cameras can be sold in bulk packages and distributed to a multitude of classrooms.
