  2. At PBHS there are 2 separate and different processes:

Dayboy application process • This can only be done via the GDE online system. • We have been made aware that the GDE online system will open for admission on 13th May 2019 and will close on 15 July 2019. Please check our website regularly for any updated information provided by the GDE. • Once this is done, a supplementary application form will be available from the school at reception. You will need to return this to the school as soon as possible from (Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm) along with ALL the supporting documents. • Incomplete forms with missing documents cannot be accepted.

  4. Supporting Documents - DAYBOYS • Printout of confirmation of GDE online application reflecting waiting list number. Cellphone versions will not be accepted. • Unabridged birth certificate (if you do not have one, please apply at Home Affairs immediately). You may submit the abridged certificate along with your receipt in the interim. • A copy of your son’s final Grade 6 report and Term 1 Grade 7 report. • A copy of both biological parent’s ID documents (death certificate if a parent is deceased). • Proof of your permanent residential address, either a copy of your recent lights and water account or a copy of your lease agreement. • Copies of music exams passed, if applicable. • Immigrants must submit copies of official permanent residence and study permit documents; diplomats to submit copies of passports and diplomatic identities.

  5. GDE ONLINE SYSTEM • You are advised to read all the information on the welcome page and click on the hyperlink for the Terms and Conditions. • Apply using one of the languages provided • Click on ‘Apply for 2020’ to begin the application process

  6. Please take the time to read and understand the Terms and Conditions. Once you have done this, click on “Continue”

  8. Step 1: Parent Details There are three steps to complete when applying on the GDE system. The ‘step’ bar along the top will turn green to indicate the completion of that step, orange when busy with it and remain red when incomplete. • You are now required to enter parent/ legal guardian information • Specify whether you are South African or non South African citizen by clicking the relevant selection • Create a username and passwordthat you will easily remember. The password must have 8 characters which for example, includes amongst others, letters, numbers and a special characters. Example,P@ss2020. • Click on the box to accept the Terms and Conditions. Submit parent/legal guardian information. • Look out for an SMS which will be sent to you confirming your login username and password.

Step 2: Learner details • Enter the ID or passport number of the learner • The date of birth will automatically populate based on the correct ID number provided. • Enter the learner’s names and surname • Select the gender and the primary language spoken at home • Select the race, current Grade (Grade7) and school of the learner. • It is mandatory to enter the current school of the learner. • Ensure that the information supplied is correct. Click on “Submit Learner Details’.

  10. Step 3: Selecting a School • Select the learner from the drop down and then select Grade 8 • Select the application option (starting with home, then sibling then work address) • Select the school from the drop down list • Click on ‘Apply’

  11. Step 3 continued • You have successfully applied for a school. Take note of your Waiting List number, which will be sent to you via SMS as well as the documents that need to be submitted to the school as soon as possible • Submit all the required supporting documents to the school where you have applied • Should you require further information, please call the GDE on 011 355 0000 or email to gdeinfo@gauteng.gov.za or visit your nearest admission centre, which is listed on their website.

  12. My Applications • Select ‘My Applications’ to view the applications you have made • To edit your information, click on ‘Edit personal information’ • To view the learners/children saved under your profile, go to ‘Select my learners’

  13. Siblings • Sibling means: • children having one or both parents in common • residing in the same household and meeting the admission criteria • Enrolled at the school in the year for which the applicant learner seeks admission

  14. Register Sibling To apply for a learner with a sibling at a school, select ‘Sibling’. Complete the sibling learner’s details by completing all the fields on this screen. Select ‘Submit’

  15. Address The correct home address is extremely important. It is where you and your son are currently living together, at the time of application. You may NOT put the address of a relative or friend that lives close to the school.

  16. Once the application period has closed, you will need to monitor your online profile as any offers that are made to you will reflect here. • You will only received offers at schools where you have been successful. • The GDE does not send out unsuccessful notification. • If you have not heard anything from the GDE, please contact them directly.

  17. Please note: • The time that you apply online will have a bearing on your placement at the school. ‘Live in area’ will be the first criteria, then ‘siblings’, then the remainder of the spaces will be allocated to those who’s parents ‘work in area’. • We would recommend that you be at your computer as soon as applications open. • We received over 1300 applications for 2019 of which only 220 dayboys were successful.
