BEST MOTORCYCLE RIDES IN THE BAY AREA [ 2017 EDITION ]
INTRODUCTION The Bay Area is a great place to visit, motorcycle or no motorcycle. You can shop in San Francisco, hit the boardwalk in Santa Cruz and even relax with a glass of Pinot Noir in Napa Valley. Along with all that fun, the Bay Area comes with several scenic rides which will blow your mind. Here are 4 of the best motorcycle rides in the Bay Area, in no particular order.
1. PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY, CALIFORNIA If you read our blogpost on “5 Best Motorcycle Rides That Will Blow Your Mind [US Edition]”, then this ride should sound familiar. The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is another great, sublime drive with breathtaking views of giant sequoias, ocean waves, and towering mountains. This 2,000 mile ride goes right from Northern Oregon all the way to Southern California, so remember to pack your swimsuit! We should warn you that the traffic on this route gets pretty packed during the summer months, so you may want to avoid popular holiday weekends like Labor Day and the Fourth of July. ____________________________________________________________________________________ 3
2. NILES CANYON HISTORIC DISTRICT If you are interested in the Old West and the era of the silent movies, the Niles Canyon Historic District is the place for you. You can definitely sense the Old West vibe in this part of Alameda County, which is also famous for its transcontinental-railroad. Feel free to get lost in its canyons, but remember to start twenty minutes north at Contra Costa County. Once you reach Niles, park your motorcycle and head on down to Bronco Billy’s Pizza Palace, which boastfully calls itself the home of the “pile-it-high pizza”, so do not be afraid to get a little messy. ____________________________________________________________________________________ 4
3. ALICE’S RESTAURANT, WOODSIDE They say that you can get whatever you want at Alice’s Restaurant! This restaurant is a hog haven. On busy weekends, expect to find hundreds of bikes in the parking lot. You may be wondering why this is listed as one of the best drives in the Bay Area. The drive to Alice’s Restaurant is full of amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, and goes through the Redwood Forest. If you are lucky, you can spot some deer on the way. ____________________________________________________________________________________ 5
4. MOUNT HAMILTON, LIVERMORE You can find yet another scenic ride at Mount Hamilton. You should take 130 to Mt. Hamilton, and go on towards Patterson. Its a ticky driving up the road to Mount Hamilton with hairpin twisties, narrow roads, one lanes, & quick changes in elevation. Beautiful views from the top & beautiful sunset.Stop for a bite at the famed ‘The Junction Restaurant’, and continue to Livermore, which was once California’s most active grazing lands, which has been replaced with top-tier research facilities. Livermore is tied with the Gold Rush, which had washed over California. ____________________________________________________________________________________ 6
CONCLUSION These are 4 of the best motorcycle rides in the Bay Area, in no particular order.
