  2. Funds • USD 409’s District budget utilizes 17 separate funds which are divided into operating funds and special revenue funds. • School districts are authorized to levy property taxes for selected funds. We have 4 of these funds.

  3. General Fund • Levy fund • Uniform 20 mill state levy • The district can spend only the legal maximum general fund budget, except for reimbursements. • Total revenues - $11,559,714 • Last Year $10,453,819 • Increase-$1,105,895

Supplemental General Fund • Levy fund • The maximum expenditures of this fund can be 30% of the general fund with a resolution • Can go to 33% with an election • Authorized to levy 30.00%, statewide LOB average is 30.00% • Supplemental General Fund total dollars: • 16-17 $3,578,462 • 17-18 $3,814,025 • Increase of $235,563

Capital Outlay Fund • Levy Fund • Authorized by resolution subject to protest petition • USD 409’s Capital Outlay Fund is authorized at 5-mill • This budget has been prepared utilizing a 5-mill levyDeposit of interest earned on idle funds • Used for construction, re-construction, remodeling, repair, purchase of equipment, maintenance, uniforms, maintenance/custodian salaries

  7. Bond & Interest Fund • Levy fund • Authorized by voter approval • State aid based on valuation-per pupil (for Atchison that amounts to 52%, up 7% from last year • Maintain mill at 13.838
