Introduction to PowerPoint • Individual pages are called slides • Ribbon at top of the window • Refer to Microsoft Word, part 1 for review
Editing a Presentation • Open from Start menu • Default view • Slide thumbnail view- smaller images of slides (1) • Active slide thumbnail- active slide highlighted orange (2) • Actives slide- main view of active slide (3) • Move between slides using slide thumbnail view
Organizing Slides • Add a slide (1) • Click between two existing slides • “New Slide” dropdown menu (various layouts) • Delete a slide • Click on slide • Use backspace or delete button • Move a slide • Drag slide to new position
Views- Normal and Outline • Normal = default • Outline - able to read text and view overall thumbnail • Delete and move slides • Directly edit text from thumbnail slides
Text Boxes • Select slide (1) • Click “insert” tab (2) • Select “text box” from menu in Text group (3) • Click on slide to place box (4) • Enter text
Headers and Footers • Dropdown menu of “Text” group • Choose option (footers used for title or author)
Themes • Click on “design” tab (1) • Select new theme from options (2) • Double click theme (3) • Color scheme also can be changed • “Variants” and “Customize” groups of Design tab
Transition Effects • Animation options once you open slide show • Transitions tab in ribbon • Hover mouse over options • Click “Effect Options” menu to control direction
