Purpose • The purpose of this referee is to obtain enough data to propose a rules change from an 8 day germination test to a 7 day germination test. This is regardless of the substrata or temperature. • Some labs use a 7-day test period and other labs use an 8-day test period as specified by AOSA Rules. https://mizzoumag.missouri.edu/2013/02/soy-genes/
Brief Overview of theReferee Design • There were 33 labs that participated in the referee this year. • The referee consisted of 6 lots of Soybeans. • Each lab was instructed to plant each lot twice. • Each lot was to be planted for a 7 day final evaluation and an 8 day final evaluation. • A first count or extension was up to the discretion of the lab. • Each lab could use their standard substrata and temperature. www.thefieldposition.com
Summary • It appears that there is no significant difference between a 7 day evaluation and an 8 day evaluation for Soybeans. • THANK YOU! www.agrodaily.com
