Aligning Facility and Infrastructure Investments with Science Needs Lab analysis of facilities and infrastructure"Mission Readiness" Facility and Infrastructure Capability Gaps and Solutions Labs assess state of facilities and infrastructure, now and in the future. • Not Capable, Marginally Capable, Partially Capable, Capable • Capability gaps are identified, and translated into an action plan. • Laboratory investments include IGPP, deferred maintenance reduction, maintenance, and non-capitalized alterations. • DOE investments include SLI line items, and programmatic GPP.
Ensuring Consistent Laboratory ReportsPeer Review Process • Peer review process • Focus on overall quality and credibility of infrastructure plans • Avenue for improving MR process • Process managed by laboratories (chief operating officers) • Results of peer review managed by assessed laboratory • Three-year cycle • ANL, BNL, LBNL, ORNL, and PNNL completed • PPPL and TJNAF scheduled this fiscal year • Ames, FERMI, and SLAC in FY11 • Outstanding benchmarking activity
Conclusion • Past F&I metrics and implementation were driving behaviors not aligned with SC missions • "Mission Readiness" • Integrated with SC business planning • Aligns infrastructure investments with missions • Provides a consistent and comprehensive "road map" • Drives positive behaviors and benchmarking
