Motivated Sequence • FIVE STEPS • Step number one: Attention step • Just like any well-developed speech intro finding a strategy to get your audience’s attention is the first step • Step number two: NEED step • Show the problem: • Answer the question: Why is change needed?
Motivated Sequence • Third Step: SATISFACTION • Describe and explain your solution(s) • Provide evidence to support your position • Show your audience how your belief system and/or the solutions you recommend will satisfy the need/solve the problem
Motivated Sequence • Fourth Step: VISUALIZATION • Describe the benefits of adopting your position to the audience – use both logical and emotional appeals to convince your of the positive benefits • Or develop the consequences of not adopting your position, belief, or proposal • Or share both benefits and consequences • Paint a word picture of the world for the benefits, consequences or both.
