Launching a New Nation • The American Revolution left the country in debt. • People bought war bonds to help support the war. • Speculators will buy products at a low price hoping they will increase in value to make a profit.
Hamilton’s Financial Plan • Established a National Bank • The bank was to provide a safe place to deposit government funds.
The Whiskey Rebellion • 1791 congress imposed a tax on all whiskey made and sold in the United States. • Farmers were upset by the tax. • The farmers rebelled by burning down the house of a tax collector.
