  2. CHAPTER GOALSAfter learning Chapter 10, you should be able to demonstrate: • Why it is important to mark information in your textbooks. • A system for textbook marking. • What, and how much, to mark. • How to develop a personal system for marking textbooks.

  3. What is Textbook Marking? • Textbook marking is a systematic way of marking, highlighting, and labeling ideas in your textbooks to show how ideas are related to each other.

  4. Errors in Textbook Marking • Wrong information is marked. • Too much is marked. • Not enough is marked. • No margin cues are used so students forget why they marked something.

  5. Steps in the Process of Textbook Marking • Preview • Study-Read • Mark or Highlight Text • Write Margin Cues
